Manchester United defender Harry Maguire scored in the final minute of stoppage time to help the defending FA Cup champions, advance to the fifth round. The Red Devils won 2-1 against Leicester City in a thrilling FA Cup fourth round encounter.
Harry Maguire handed a much-needed boost to Manchester United, who have lost five out of their last seven home games. The 31-year-old scored against his former team, who he played for between 2017 and 2019. Maguire had made 76 appearances for the Foxes, before securing a record-breaking move to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window of 2019.
The Red Devils looked sloppy throughout the first half. Bobby De Cordova-Reid helped Leicester take the lead in the 42nd minute. However, United came back through Joshua Zirkzee‘s 68th minute equalizer. As the match was nearing extra time, Bruno Fernandes stepped up to take an injury-time free-kick, which was headed home by Maguire, leaving fans awestruck.

However, the goal was not bereft of controversy, with Leicester City claiming that Maguire was in an offside position. With VAR not used in the initial stages of the FA Cup, the referee deemed the goal as a legible one. Leicester manager and ex-United interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy was livid after the full-time whistle, claiming that his side was done hard by poor officiating.

hiliarious that there were 3 players offside – and by ALOT and somehow none of the refs flag it? Great FK and goal but easy call missed.

Meanwhile, the win also handed the Red Devils a much-needed sigh of relief, following the disaster weekend Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace. Despite their FA Cup win, the club is struggling in the EPL, as they remain in the 13th position on the table.
