After the match, Sinner explained his and Corda’s style of playing. He admitted he feels tough to play on clay.

I think me and Sebi have similar games, so we do not play like the classic clay-court specialists, we like to play quite flat. But I moved quite well in these conditions. Every year it is tough to come here and perform well, but I am happy with the performance. Let's see what is coming in the next round. It is always great to be back here.

The 22-year-old will now face World No.25 Jan-Lennard Struff in the next round. The German defeated Borna Coric in the previous round. They locked horns with each other just once, at this year’s Indian Wells. In the Round of 32, Sinner eased past the German 6-3, 6-4.

Just about a week ago, the second seed defeated Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 at the Miami Open, which helped him dethrone Carlos Alcaraz from the No.1 spot in the ATP Rankings. The Spaniard was the only player who has beaten Sinner this year. It came at the Indian Wells semifinal, which Sinner lost in three sets.
