Fans Flame Vincent Goodwill After Another Bizarre Analogy Involving Timberwolves and Women – “Get This Guy Off the Air”
Vincent Goodwill was just a beat writer for the Detroit Pistons before becoming a basketball analyst for ESPN.

Over the past two days, Vincent Goodwill has managed to irk not just fellow analysts and former players but basketball fans as well with his bizarre opinions.
Analysts who have not played the game tend to toe a fine line between making outrageous claims and sticking to the facts at hand.
As time has passed and with the advent of social media, that line has been blurred quite a few times, and even by the best in the business. In fact, bizarre opinions are now one of the best ways to gain traction.
Even small-time, no-name podcasters and analysts are saying whatever they can to boost their image. But when it comes to mainstream media, they tend to keep it safe, at least as long as it does not upset the apple cart.
But time and again, something happens which leave fans annoyed to the extent of demanding that the network fire the said analyst. Vincent Goodwill faced the same backlash after he suggested that the NBA Championship had become a participation trophy.
Imagine every woman you date, when you are done dating her, the next dude she dates, she marries. That’s the Minnesota Timberwolves. Karl-Anthony Towns got a ring, Andrew Wiggins got a ring, Kevin Love got a ring… They couldn’t get it done, Minnesota had to watch them put in a trade request.

The analyst was trying to explain why the Minnesota Timberwolves have had tough luck watching their former superstar walk away and win titles on other teams.
Fans lose their minds over Vincent Goodwill’s latest analogy
While Vincent Goodwill’s analogy left his First Take colleagues chuckling, fans were not on the same wavelength. Most of them were angry that ESPN was still giving him airtime after his controversial ‘participation trophy’ take.
Some of them felt the network was trying to fix the situation by having him appear on First Take and other shows, but overall, they were negative. Check out examples of those reactions below.

So he’s telling America that the Minnesota Timberwolves deserve the NBA Championship because their fanbase has suffered enough???

Isn’t that “participation trophy” talk???
Between this one and the "parity in the NBA is participation trophy culture," I think Vince is hitting chatgpt to generate his analogies recently.

How is this dude still on TV after calling the championship a participation trophy

Look at the full situation. They left to become second or third options on a better team overall.

So now you’re using the Minnesota Timberwolves to fix your disastrous PR blunder of calling an NBA Championship Trophy a “Participation Trophy?”

Just want to know how that bozo is still allowed to talk ball?

ESPN on full damage control trying to fix this clown. Just stop

Vincent Goodwill might be helping ESPN improve its ratings, but fans generally do not appreciate it when an analyst who has not played the game at the highest level starts disrespecting it. Some former players are already calling him and the network out about it, but this time, it was a lot milder than it was when he first disrespected the Larry O’Brien trophy.
Kendrick Perkins relays Vincent Goodwill’s Wolves opinion in a serious way
When Vincent Goodwill compared the Minnesota Timberwolves’ situation with that of women and dating, Kendrick Perkins was the first to laugh about it. But once he gathered himself, he tried to relay the message in a serious tone.

They got to make sure that Anthony Edwards is happy. They cannot afford to lose another No. 1 pick.
Kendrick Perkins said
The former champion reiterated that Karl-Anthony Towns is now the second former Wolves’ No. 1 overall pick to have won a championship with a different team after Andrew Wiggins.

If they do not get their act straight, Anthony Edwards could be the third. The team has to build a roster with which the young guard can win, and they have to do it fast before he starts to get frustrated.
