The wrestling community on social media renewed its loathing for one of the most pointless tag team breakups in recent memory.

The tag teams in WWE, or in general, have had a history of reaching their boiling point. In that scenario, a couple of things can happen. Either the wrestlers would embark on singles runs or just disappear from TV. The latter has seemingly happened to SmackDown superstar Giovanni Vinci. This past April, the Italian was kicked out of Imperium by Ludwig Kaiser upon the restraining orders of Gunther.

It just so happened, as they felt that Vinci was Imperium’s weak link, often eating up pinfall losses. There’s a rumor that’s been floating online for months now, but it hasn’t been confirmed. It says that Kaiser and Gunther pulled some strings and eventually got the 34-year-old removed from Imperium as he was allegedly making a play for Ludwig’s girlfriend, Tiffany Stratton, despite knowing that she’d been in a relationship.

Neither of the involved entities has clarified whether it’s true or not. Speaking of how Vinci has fared in his act as a solo wrestler on SmackDown, it’s all bleak at the moment. He returned to the blue brand in September after weeks of hype vignettes. However, on his first night back, the former NXT tag team champion was pinned by Apollo Crews in less than 10 seconds.

A week later, the real-life Fabian Aichner suffered yet another loss to Crews and has been taken off the show ever since. His main roster debut didn’t happen simultaneously with his former teammates, viz. Ludwig Kaiser and Gunther.

It was not until Clash at the Castle PLE in 2022 that Aichner was finally put alongside them. It made up for three-fourths of Imperium, as one of their former members, Alexander Wolfe, was axed by WWE in June 2021.

Fans vent frustration as Giovanni Vinci’s booking worsens after Imperium fallout

It’s been almost half a year since Giovanni Vinci broke off of Imperium. A user on X went on to casually post that clip of Ludwig Kaiser snapping at his former partner to lament how its aftermath has benefited neither of the two stars.

Others on the platform replied that the breakup was unnecessary and should’ve never happened. There were a ton of people in the comments who brought up that unconfirmed theory about Gio making his moves on Kaiser’s girlfriend Tiffany Stratton behind his back.

Apart from that, fans were immensely upset at the fact that WWE hasn’t been able to come up with anything significant for the 34-year-old on SmackDown. It’d be interesting to see if he makes his way back to the fold.
