Fans name a road in Bangalore after AB de Villiers on Google Maps

AB de Villiers is without a doubt, one of the most loved and adored cricketers in the world. Thanks to his gentlemanly, calm demeanor and stupendous ability, the South African has commanded respect and an following wherever he has gone. Playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise since 2011, he has been accepted by fans as one of their own.
The explosive batsmen has been one of the most consistent batsmen in the IPL as he averages 40 with the bat, which is more than even the top-scorer in the tournament’s history and his teammate, Virat Kohli. Having scored a total of 4974 runs in the tournament’s history, de Villiers is already one of the greatest performers in the IPL. Such has been his achievements that he has only got better with time.
AB de Villiers fans name road after him
Eagle-eyed fans today spotted that a road on Google Maps in Bangalore was named after AB de Villiers. Named ‘AB de Villiers ROAD’, the road can be found upon zooming a region near Rajaji Nagar. A fan going by the name ‘Come to Gabba Mate’ was the first to spot it as he wrote, “Bengaluru has a road named on AB de Villiers. He is adopted son of Karnataka. (sic)” The post went viral soon.
Another fan then clarified that it was not named officially by the government, but some fan must have edited an unnamed road on Google Maps and given it de Villiers’ name. Despite the fact that it was just one fan who could have done it, this instance clearly proves as to how much adoration the South African gets in India and especially in the city of Bangalore.
