Jannik Sinner was cleared of all wrongdoing after testing positive for a banned substance twice earlier this year. After the news broke out, many fans were outraged at how he avoided suspension without any fight.

During the Indian Wells Masters in March, Sinner tested positive for Clostebol, a metabolite that is on the list of banned substances. After that, he again tested positive eight days later in an out-of-competition sample.

Clostebol is an anabolic agent prohibited at all times under Section S1 of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List.  Interestingly, San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. was suspended by Major League Baseball after he tested positive for the same substance.

The International Tennis Integrity Agency confirmed the news on Tuesday (August 20) and stated that Sinner was provisionally suspended initially. However, the Italian successfully appealed and was allowed to keep competing on the ATP Tour.

Fans wonder how Jannik Sinner escaped scrutiny while others, like Simona Halep, struggled to clear her name

One fan stated that the news of Sinner’s positive doping results and getting cleared of all wrongdoing quickly must have infuriated Halep.

Here are some more fan reactions to the same:

The International Tennis Integrity Agency suspended Halep in September 2023 for four years following breaches of the Tennis Anti-Doping Programme. She appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and a hearing in February this year saw her four-year ban reduced to nine months. This allowed her to return to action immediately.
