Over the past few days, Stephen Curry has shed not only his sickness, but also Under Armour, after it was announced that the sportswear brand was splitting ties with the Warriors superstar.

The news came out as a lightning bolt, as no one thought they would split. After all, the 37-year-old was the reason for their surge in the basketball sneaker market, and many felt the company would suffer. While warming up for their game against the San Antonio Spurs, Stephen Curry was pictured lacing up in the “Mambacita” Nike Kobe 6s. The point guard went through his shoot-around wearing those sneakers before eventually changing for his signature Curry brand shoes.

There is a reason why he chose to revert to his own brand shoes, as that is what he is trying to pitch to his next sneaker partner. However, he did what he wanted as he pulled out the Mambacita’s for warmups. Those sneakers are highly desired collectibles, as they are designed to feature both the late Los Angeles Lakers superstar on one shoe and his daughter on the other.

It seems Curry was waiting for the right time to break them out, and decided to pay homage to the two who died in a helicopter crash, even though he has several other legendary pieces.
