Rhea Ripley knows what it takes for one to be a champion in WWE. Boasting of a stacked roster, the company has its men and women scrambling for top spots. While some have them served on a silver platter owing to ancestral lineage, others make it to the apex with pure grit. And Chelsea Green is an embodiment of the latter.
Last weekend, at Saturday Night’s Main Event, she became the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion. She had to navigate her way into the finals via a couple of tricky preliminary round matches. Green met Michin on D-day and found a way past her. After beating the 35-year-old former OC member, Chelsea had Ripley waiting for her backstage.
In one of the behind-the-scenes photos WWE shared recently, Rhea could be seen oozing affection for Green as Mami held her closely in what came across as an emotional interaction. It was that kind of a night for Chelsea. Who’d have thought that after over a year of jobbing out to top female stars, the Hot Mess would turn it around for herself?
However, the Canuck was rewarded by the higher-ups for winning over the WWE Universe. To celebrate, Mrs. Cardona visited Disneyland with her husband, Matt Cardona. They posed with the gleaming US title belt. Shortly after that, Chelsea issued an open invite to rapper Cardi B to challenge her.
Even though it has only been a week since she won the gold, Green has to keep her head on a swivel. Michin, despite going down at SNME, is hellbent on getting her lick back. Other than her, there are a number of unheralded names on the blue brand who are waiting in the wings to put Chelsea on notice.

The backstage morale in WWE has gotten immensely better under Triple H‘s regime. Superstars rooting for one another is always a sign of a healthy environment. If the aforementioned picture of Rhea Ripley and Chelsea Green tells anything, The Eradicator is visibly proud of Green finally getting her flowers.
Moreover, the fans on social media think likewise. A number of peeps on X hailed the former Judgment Day member as a true locker room leader. Others said that only a champion can recognize another one of its kind.
One even joked about hiding their wholesome embrace from Raw backstage correspondent Cathy Kelley, who’s the proverbial girlfriend of Rhea. Speaking of the latter, she’s got one more crack at dethroning Liv Morgan for the women’s world title on Raw’s Netflix debut.
