“Ain’t nobody watching this bs”- The Rock begins filming for Moana’s live-action adaptation in Hawaii, wrestling fans react to his GIGANTIC first look
Amid his ongoing WWE hiatus, The Rock has commenced the shoot of Moana's live-action remake that's set in Hawaii.

Nestled off the coast of Oahu in Hawaii, the live-action remake of the 2016 Disney animated film Moana has begun shooting. A leaked image from the movie set has spotted Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson—and he’s looking bigger than ever. The 52-year-old actor is apparently wearing a bodysuit for the role of demigod Maui that he’s reprising.
Alongside him, Catherine Laga’aia is also seen. She’s going to be the live-action version of Moana. After a few hiccups in casting and its production due to the SAG-AFTRA strike last year, the Thomas Kail-directed film is up and running. It’s slated for a July 2026 release. But before that, Dwayne Johnson and Co. are up for the release of Moana 2 on November 27.
It’d be the second installment of the Moana franchise, and the filmmakers would be hoping for the animated sequel to follow up on its hype. Moana 2’s trailer broke an all-time Disney record for being the most-viewed in the animated film category. Also, this past Friday, The Rock‘s holiday-season crowd-pleaser Red One hit the theaters locally.

Against a reported film budget of $250 million, minus another $100 million of marketing expenses, the film could only record an opening day collection of $32 million. The legendary WWE wrestler was massively trolled by netizens for juxtaposing his poorly-reviewed budgetary fiasco with Oppenheimer.
The Cillian Murphy-starrer roped in seven Oscars at the 96th Academy Awards this year. Whereas, Johnson’s Red One is sitting at a 37% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite continued lows in acting, Dwayne hasn’t backpedaled. In fact, when he returned to WWE for his first match in 8 years at WrestleMania XL, some critics deemed it as Johnson’s response to failing movie projects.
Fans plead with The Rock for his WWE return; ridicule Moana’s live-action remake
It’s no secret that The Rock’s wrestling fanbase has long disliked his full-time transition to Hollywood. Even though he’s now a key stakeholder in TKO, the parent company that jointly owns WWE, The People’s Champ is still pretty much involved with acting ventures.
As he embarks on shooting for Moana’s live-action adaptation, Rocky is being trolled, and it’s not looking good for him. Some fans argued that Moana doesn’t need a remake. They say it’s going to bomb. The rationale is given that the franchise isn’t five decades old.

Can we stop with the live-action remake obsession? 90% of them are complete arse, look uncanny or both.

This shit about to bomb too. And if it does it’s time to start having that conversation about the Rocks acting skills that some of yall like to overlook

Roided up from head to toe. I don’t know why a live action one is needed so soon, it’s not like this franchise is over 50 years old.

There's something funny about The Rock already being one of the most muscular men on earth and then they added a fake muscle bodysuit on top of him.

Everything the Rock stars in is guaranteed to be a flop. Man should just go back to WWE or something.

Rock’s first look from the sets is also an apple of discord for many, as they believe he’s roided up his body. A few users also commented on how The Brahma Bull’s WWE return will be impacted. They’re convinced he won’t be back until the Royal Rumble. But there’s hope that he’ll be there for Raw’s Netflix premiere.
