Rhea Ripley might get added to that elusive list of women who have wrestled an intergender match in WWE. But whom could she face? As per WrestleVotes, the former Judgment Day member would be up against no one but her ex-boyfriend Dominik Mysterio. The idea has been broached within WWE. Additionally, there’s a strong desire among key backstage circles to get it done before Rhea’s on-screen beef with Dom fizzles out.
What’s interesting is that it was Dominik in the first place who admitted that he’s open to going one-on-one with Ripley during an interview with Gorilla Position. Mami was quick to hit back with a yes too. And with there being a genuine pull within WWE creative to make this happen, it may come to fruition.
Rhea and Dom had been in the ring with each other on numerous occasions. Most recently at Bash in Berlin, Mysterio tied up with Liv Morgan to take on Rhea, who was backed by her terror twin, Damian Priest. Even though that mixed tag team match was highly entertaining, the crowd popped the most for The Eradicator’s spanking of her former Dom-Dom.
The two share unmatched chemistry, to say the least. Back when Dominik and Rhea were an on-screen couple, they used to be the talk of the town. Now that they’re far apart, they loathe each other. At the moment, the Australian wrestler is hellbent on winning back the women’s world title from Liv Morgan.
It was back at SummerSlam where Mysterio turned his back on Ripley. It did seem like there was no stopping Rhea that evening, but the modern-day Latino Heat had other plans. He not only dumped her Mami for Morgan but also cost Rhea the title match.
Fans list their concerns for Rhea Ripley’s reported male opponent
If the aforementioned report is to be believed, Rhea Ripley vs. Dominik Mysterio could no longer be a fever dream. The fans on social media, though, are pretty much on the fence about the move. The most common concern of all is the likelihood of the said intergender match being a one-sided affair.
A bunch of netizens aren’t too optimistic about Dominik getting some of his offense on Rhea if they were to wrestle each other. One fan said that it should be saved for the Netflix era of WWE. Raw is pegged to loosen up some strings on the streaming platform.
So it might actually be a great idea to hold the match off until then. The last time a male and a female superstar locked horns in WWE was back in 2021 when Randy Orton took on Alexa Bliss at Fastlane. The latter scored a win over the 14-time World Champion.
