The UFC Apex has been the home of non-stop MMA action week in and week out for a long time now. The Nevada facility was introduced in 2019 and since has been a staple in UFC’s yearly schedule. The Apex will now remain shut due to some ongoing renovations, but the fans don’t seem bothered by it. 

The UFC introduced the Apex to the world as a game changer for the company during the COVID situation. While the world and many other sporting events struggled to be active, the UFC managed to keep having live events. However, there was an opposite side to this, which the promotion might not have expected.

The UFC Apex drew negative reactions from both fighters and fans, mostly because of its more intimate, low-key setting. The fighters were deprived of the burst of adrenaline that larger-scale crowd reactions provide, which can greatly affect performance. The fans missed the electrifying atmosphere that filled the arenas.

The overall thrill and spectacle that UFC events are known for was diminished by the restricted seating at the Apex. It also made events feel less large and approachable. With the Apex undergoing renovations, fans are excited for UFC events to return to larger venues with live audiences.

Fight fans react to UFC Apex getting shut down for renovation

A few months back, Dana White decided to move out of the crowdless UFC Apex and host events in different cities. This gathered some positive responses from the fight fans. According to many fans, given the current financial success of UFC, there is no reason for the promotion to hold their Fight Nights in the underwhelming Apex.
