During an interview, WTA ace Veronika Kudermetova revealed that Holger Rune attempted to flirt with her but was rejected. And the reason? Kudermetova was too “old” for the 22-year-old, plus she also has a husband.

The 28-year-old is married to tennis coach and former player, Sergei Demekhine. Once Rune realized this, he stopped texting her.

Both Kudermetova and Rune are playing at the Canadian Open. Kudermetova knocked out Cristina Bucsa and Olga Danilovic in the first two rounds, only to schedule a third-round clash with Coco Gauff. During the match, a Tennis Channel commentator brought up Rune’s rejection story.

I don’t know if you heard about this tea…not tennis related, but there was news that Holger Rune apparently texted Kudermetova, and she said she was too old for him and married.

Here’s the video:

Rune is still alive in the tournament. He overcame Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in straight sets before he breezed past Alexandre Muller.

His next opponent is Alexei Popyrin, who denied Daniil Medvedev a chance to go for his first title since the 2023 Italian Open. The Aussie has played Rune once in his career. They met in the fourth round of the 2023 Italian Open, which the Dane won in three sets.

Fans criticized the commentator for bringing up Holger Rune-Veronika Kudermetova gossip

Fans on social media could not believe that such topics would be discussed when a match is going on. They slammed the commentator, calling her unprofessional.

Rune is currently dating Caroline Donzella, an Italian-Dutch fashion model. As per reports, Rune confirmed the relationship through an Instagram post in 2023.

At the Canadian Open, Rune is chasing his second title of the year. He has so far played two finals: at the Italian Wells Masters, which he lost to Jack Draper, and at the Barcelona Open, which he won by beating five-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz. Rune is also chasing his career’s second Masters 1000 title after his 2022 Paris Masters win.

Holger Rune is super happy to join Amanda Anisimova for the US Open mixed doubles

Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud have teamed up, while Novak Djokovic will be playing alongside Olga Danilovic. Rune’s partner is Amanda Anisimova.

Amanda has played very well in the past. She reached the Wimbledon final, as you know. She was available, so I contacted her, and she was excited to play. Actually, I don’t even know who contacted whom, to be honest. Because, you know, it’s the agents and all that. But I’m super happy. She’s a great player, a really nice person, so it’s going to be nice to share the court with her.

Holger Rune said at a press conference in Toronto

At the Canadian Open, Anisimova has reached the third round and will lock horns with 2021 US Open champion Raducanu. The 23-year-old trails 0-2 in the head-to-head matchups as Raducanu clinched the win when they met in the second round of this year’s Australian Open and the fourth round of the Miami Open. Before scheduling the clash with the Brit, Anisimova knocked out home favorite Peyton Stearns.

Anisimova is chasing her second title of the season. She has lifted her career’s first WTA 1000 title at the Qatar Open by beating Jelena Ostapenko, but ended up losing the final at the Queen’s Club Championships and Wimbledon to Tatjana Maria and Swiatek, respectively. The Pole, in fact, clinched the win with a 6-0, 6-0 scoreline.
