The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced on December 22 that American tennis player Jessica Eudovic has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for the banned anabolic steroid clostebol. It was the same drug that contaminated Jannik Sinner in March last year.
He twice failed the drug test in March. The reason behind contamination was ignorance during physiotherapy sessions. His former physio Giacomo Naldi had a cut on his finger, and to heal it, he used a contaminated spray recommended by Sinner’s fitness trainer Umberto Ferrara, who bought the spray from Italy.
The drama that unfolded after ITIA announced Sinner’s case is well documented. To summarize the controversy, Sinner was provisionally suspended but faced no harsh penalty, and later, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) challenged ITIA’s verdict.
WADA wanted to ban Sinner for one or two years and also approached the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for the same. But following the Australian Open this year, the WADA withdrew its CAS appeal and instead banned the World No.2 for just three months. Sinner was not forced to miss a Grand Slam event.
Back to Eudovic’s story, the 18-year-old failed the drug test while competing in an ITF World Tennis Tour W15 event in Santa Tecla, El Salvador, on 1 October 2025. The ITIA informed the teenager about the failed doping on 21 November 2025.
Fans once again call out ITIA, accusing them of giving preferential treatment to Jannik Sinner
When the ITIA announced that Jannik Sinner bore no fault or negligence, it sparked huge outrage and divided the tennis world, with those who criticized the verdict saying Sinner received preferential treatment due to his high-profile status. When the ITIA announced Jessica Eudovic’s failed test for clostebol, some sections of the fans once again started to blame Sinner, accusing him of using the drug for performance enhancement.

Eudovic appealed just like Sinner did but the hearing didn't think her reasoning was as good as Sinners and has been suspended. https://t.co/RkYBwUomJs
Just say your dog walked near a clostebol factory, you then petted the dog.

Gotta work
The more cases like this we see, the more obvious it becomes that Sinner was allowed to dope. Now that we need more evidence, of course. 🤣

Dopiner what a great role model for young players!

Sinner defenders were telling us that Sinner's case was to be the "blueprint" for more leniency in doping lol!

But players are still getting railroaded ….And many with far more plausible explanations than Sinner's.
It became increasingly clear that the ATP covered up Sinner's doping case.

Isn't it obvious that Sinner's case is a clear case of doping? You can see muscle growth and improved fitness from 2023 to 2024 that weren't present in 2023.

All she had to do was give the San excuse no!?

Sinner made his comeback post the ban at the Italian Open, only to suffer a straight-set defeat to Carlos Alcaraz. Despite missing the three months, he produced impressive performances the rest of the season.
Flavia Pennetta thinks Flavio Fognini broke the wall of Italian tennis, not Jannik Sinner
Former WTA pro Flavia Pennetta scripted history when, in 2015, she clinched the US Open by defeating compatriot Roberta Vinci. Pennetta recently sat for an interview with Corriere della Sera during which she talked about how her achievements broke the barrier for Italian women’s tennis.

I broke a barrier for all Italian women: it is no coincidence that, from then on, we girls started a cycle. If Flavia did it, we can too.
Flavia Pennetta said
Pennetta thinks her husband, Fabio Fognini, played a huge role in popularizing tennis in Italy, and not Sinner. Fognini, who won the 2015 Australian Open Doubles, called time on his career after losing the first-round match of this year’s Wimbledon.
For women, I was like Sinner. And for men, it was my husband, Fognini, who broke the barrier of Italian tennis, not Sinner.
Flavia Pennetta added
Fognini met Sinner just once – in the third round of the 2022 Italian Open. This year, Sinner took home six titles from 10 finals, the second-most this year after Alcaraz. Those titles also include the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
Sinner also defended his ATP Finals crown. He ended his Masters 1000 title drought at the Paris Masters, defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final. Apart from these titles, Sinner also won the China Open and the Vienna Open by defeating Learner Tien and Alexander Zverev, respectively.
In next year’s Australian Open, the 24-year-old will be bidding to complete the three-peat. In 2023, he came from two sets down to defeat 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev, while last year, he breezed past Zverev.
