The WWE Universe hasn't taken too kindly of the Crown Jewel titles, which are pegged to operate on a use-and-throw model.

Triple H‘s introduction of the brand-new ‘Crown Jewel’ Championships has received a lukewarm response from the WWE Universe. The top matches that’d revolve around this concept have already been set for the Crown Jewel PLE. On the men’s side, Cody Rhodes will battle it out with Gunther. As for the women, Liv Morgan will take on Nia Jax. The winners of those champion vs. champion bouts will be crowned the WWE Crown Jewel Champion.

Having said that, will that be a regular presence on WWE television? The answer is no. As per WrestleVotes Radio, the Crown Jewel titles will remain specific to Saudi Arabia. They’re not slated to be factored into storylines, and neither would they be defended throughout the year. This over-the-top idea seems concordant with WWE’s 10-year-long strategic partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Back in 2018, the Stamford-based promotion agreed on terms with the Saudi General Entertainment Authority. Based on WWE’s SEC filings courtesy of WrestleNomics, Saudi Arabia pays WWE a lump sum amount of $50 million for every event they run in their country. That’d balloon up to $100 million in revenue a year since WWE visits Saudi twice in 12 months.

The WWE fans based in the US have never been strong advocates of the promotion’s bolstering business ties with the Middle East. Moreover, numerous wrestlers over the years have been critical of the move as well. A few years ago, CM Punk lashed out at The Miz.

Punk asked him to go “suck the blood money” WWE would generate off their deal with the Arabian officials. For the record, Punk has mended the fences with the A-Lister now that they both work for WWE. Also, The Second City Saint is not expected to work next month’s Crown Jewel event.

WWE fans don’t seem optimistic about the Crown Jewel titles

WWE’s reported vision of using the Crown Jewel titles hasn’t moved the fans for good. The news is receiving tons of flak on social media. There’s a slew of comments trying to decipher the logic behind those lustrous belts.

Concerns were raised regarding the abrupt functioning of this if the titles wouldn’t even receive a mention on TV for the rest of the year. One fan even compared it to The Rock‘s People’s Championship.

That was bestowed on him by Muhammad Ali’s widow at this year’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. There’s an increasing outcry among the fans to rather bring in a mid-card women’s title that’d at least stay permanent.
