US Open champion Jannik Sinner chooses to ignore critics amidst doping controversy
Jannik Sinner was facing a lot of heat for his doping controversy before the start of the 2024 US Open. Among the many former and current players who expressed unhappiness with the case was Nick Kyrgios, who did not hold back in his criticism of Sinner and the authorities.
While Sinner chose not to respond to anyone before the US Open, he maintained his stance after clinching the title in New York. The 23-year-old said that he could not stop others from speaking their minds and insisted that only those close to him know what he and his team went through since the doping saga became public knowledge.
I don't know. You have to ask all the other players. This, I don't know. There have been, of course, some different voices, but this is in everything. I mean, you can't really do anything about that. That's why you have, as I said before, the people close to you, these are the people who knows what was going on and what I and my team went through because it was not only me; it was the whole situation.Jannik Sinner said in a post-match press conference
Sinner stayed strong to ignore his critics and clinch his maiden title at Flushing Meadows in style. The Italian now has two Grand Slams to his name, making him the youngest man to win his first two Majors in the same year.
