Jannik Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 on Sunday to claim his first Wimbledon title. The win was especially meaningful as it came just weeks after his tough loss to Alcaraz in the French Open final.
At 23 years old, Sinner has now won four Grand Slam titles. He also became the first Italian man to lift the trophy at the All England Club. His rise marks a new era in tennis, as the sport transitions from the dominance of Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic.
Sinner and Alcaraz have emerged as the sport’s top contenders. Between them, they have captured seven straight Grand Slam titles. Sinner has claimed four of those, signaling a clear shift in the balance of power.
The Wimbledon final win wasn’t just about the two finalists. Sinner’s famous doping scandal has casted a shadow since last year. Nick Kyrgios spoke out publicly and personally, calling attention to the issue and directing criticism toward the world number one.

Kyrgios has been pretty vocal about Sinner’s doping scandal since it emerged last year in August. The Australian also launched criticism on Iga Swiatek, who was also caught in a doping suspension at the back end of last year.
Sinner was suspended for three months earlier this year, which allowed him to miss the entirety of the action after the Australian Open and until the Italian Open. Meanwhile, Swiatek got a one-month suspension in December.
Kyrgios believes that the duo should be persecuted the same way as the likes of Simona Halep and Maria Sharapova. The duo got punished for more than a year before getting cleared.
Jannik Sinner wins first Wimbledon title
In early June in Paris, Jannik Sinner narrowly missed winning the French Open. He had three championship points, but Carlos Alcaraz staged an incredible comeback. The match lasted five hours and 29 minutes, and Alcaraz extended his perfect record in major finals to 5-0.

At Wimbledon, Sinner got his redemption. Playing under clear skies on Centre Court, the 23-year-old Italian showed determination and accuracy. He targeted Alcaraz’s forehand with heavy groundstrokes and steadily gained control of the match.
As the match progressed, Sinner’s serve became more dominant. He ended a five-match losing streak against the 22-year-old Spaniard and shifted the momentum in their growing rivalry. His performance marked a turning point in their head-to-head battles.
With this victory, Sinner became the first Italian man to win Wimbledon. He is now just one title away from achieving a career Grand Slam, needing only the French Open. He also extended his lead in the PIF ATP Rankings, now 3,430 points ahead of Alcaraz. Their rivalry continues to shape the future of men’s tennis.
