19-year-old Iga Swiatek is quite simply one of the most indomitable spirits on the WTA Tour. Swiatek lifted her maiden Grand Slam title at French Open 2020 after she downed Sofia Kenin 6-4, 6-1. Further, she became the first Polish player in history to achieve this feat in the singles category.

The Pole made some huge waves with her genius strokes and variety. With a higher forehand speed than Rafael Nadal, she amazed the masses. Moreover, she maintained a level-headed attitude and sported a personality which instantly drew many. This has led her to pick up another coveted title, that of the WTA Fan Favourite Player of the Year

The tennis ace wrote,“This is soooo cool. It means a lot because it seems that you – fans – value what I do and simply like me. And just so you know…I appreciate it. Thank you!”

She uses the drop shot to great effect several times in her matches. Lumped with her powerful groundstrokes, there’s essentially nothing that she can’t do.

Swiatek has certainly shown the world that she has the variety and the mindset to make it to and sustain herself in the big leagues. As can be concluded by the bestowment of the award, the 19-year-old has won the hearts of millions in the process.
