FC Bayern Munich announce the signing of defender Dayot Upamecano
German club Bayern Munich have announced the signing of French international Dayot Upamecano. The RB Leipzig player was targeted by a number of big clubs across Europe including the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Juventus.
However Dayot Upamecano has decided to commit his future to similar surroundings and to the sextuple winners FC Bayern Munich Instead.
Dayot Upamecano was one of the most sought prospects in Europe
The Bavarian giants announced that Dayot Upamecano will spend the rest of the 2020/21 season at RB Leipzig before joining FC Bayern Munich on the 1st of July 2021. He’s signed a five year contract with Bayern Munich which will enable him to stay up until 2016.
Upamecano is a bright young prospect for Bayern Munich who have a number of veteran defenders leaving at the end of the season including David Alaba and Jerome Boateng. In such conditions Dayot Upamecano comes in as the perfect replacement and will be partnering another young defender Nathaniel Sule.
Munich have confirmed the signing on their official website and are delighted to welcome him to the club : “Dayot Upamecano (22, RB Leipzig) will play for FC Bayern Munich from July 1, 2021.
“The defensive player and the German record champions agreed on a five-year collaboration until June 30, 2026.”
Munich’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic says : “We are happy that we were able to win Dayot Upamecano for FC Bayern Munich. “Dayot will be a very important component for our team in the coming years, we are convinced of that.”
