American tennis legend Martina Navratilova has once again sided with British author JK Rowling as the latter tore apart trans activists. As Rowling raised her objections against keeping trans women in the same wards as women patients, Navratilova rallied behind her. She agreed that keeping these two types of patients in separate wards is not segregation.
It all started with a trans activist posting that they do not support the segregation of trans people in hospitals. The activist also took a dig at the critics of such a decision saying the critics are hostile towards even having separate wards for trans patients.
This infuriated JK Rowling who tore apart the activist calling the segregation claims ‘crap’. She also batted strongly for the women-only wards saying that they are safeguarding for women. Rowling further talked about assaults on women and also cited a report to show how separate wards for women are the bare minimum these days.
Meanwhile, Navratilova agreed with the British author’s arguments and rallied behind her. The American said that segregation is not separation.
Peter needs to stay the fuck out of women’s conversations/ spaces. Exactly right JK. It’s separation, not segregation!Martina Navratilova posted on X.
Martina Navratilova’s vocalism against trans people
Martina Navratilova has been pretty vocal about her displeasure against allowing trans women in the same spaces as women, be it sports or any other field. The 67-year-old has openly expressed her reservations against such measures.
The former American tennis ace has claimed that she is not against trans people but clubbing them with women is what she finds problematic. The 67-year-old has found different instances to lash out at the idea of including trans women in women’s spaces.
When the tennis legend was asked about her objection against trans athletes in women’s sports, Navratilova highlighted her point. She claimed that it is not about trans athletes but “against male bodies competing as women, if they identify as women”.
This is not against trans athletes. This is against male bodies competing as women, if they identify as women. Many sports don’t even have any mitigation, any allowance for lowering the testosterone level, et cetera. But what has been proven, even when you do take those testosterone blockers or hormone therapy, even after 15 years, male bodies still retain physical advantage over women athletes.Martina Navratilova said last year. The former tennis ace has maintained the same stance on the issue throughout and now, by siding with Rowling, she has further strengthened her argument.
