ESports is all set to make its debut at the 2022 Asian Games, with 8 Medal events taking place said Olympic Council of Asia on Wednesday. Each ESport category will have 3 medals up for grabs- gold, silver and bronze- meaning that 24 total medals will be awarded in the field.

ESports was a demonstration event at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta. This meant that Amy medals awarded in those Games did not count towards the nation’s medal tally. Tirth Mehta of India had taken the bronze medal in Hearthstone at the demonstration event in 2018.

As ESports is all set to make its debut, OCA Director General, Husain Al-Musallam said, “We at the OCA are looking forward to working closely with our friends at the Asian Electronic Sports Federation and the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee to ensure a successful execution of the esports event at the 2022 Asian Games.”
