In the penultimate match of this year’s SummerSlam, Damian Priest took on Gunther for the World Heavyweight title. Right from the get-go, they were at it with vengeance. As the match went on, The Ring General tried to slow down the pace. Just methodical and a little wasted motion. But once again, Priest did his best to rally himself.

Possessing a karate background, The Judgment Day member spammed Gunther‘s chest with a flurry of kicks. In an unprecedented sight, Damian’s relentless chops did the damage in a way the Austrian didn’t even realize until it was shown on the jumbotron. He was left busted open in his chest. The latter then powered out of a South of Heaven chokeslam from Priest.

The Imperium leader turned the tide with a blink of the eye. He rained a string of lariats on The Archer of Infamy. The crowd knew it was awesome as those chants rang out. The former NXT UK Champion further subdued the reigning champ with his dogged offense. By then, Finn Balor was out at ringside.

Priest was about to put Gunther away with a sequence of moves. Just when he went for the pinfall attempt, Balor screwed his longtime buddy. Even though it didn’t work the first time, Gunther eventually made the Judgment Day member pass out. In the meantime, Finn was looking as if he had waited to betray Priest for ages but stalled the plans until the right moment arrived.

Last night at SummerSlam, not only did he stab the Puerto Rican, he also screwed him out of the World Heavyweight title. Earlier on, it was Dominik Mysterio who aligned himself with Liv Morgan, betraying Rhea Ripley.

Could Finn Balor also align himself with Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio following Judgment Day ouster?

After a career-altering stint with The Judgment Day, that ride is over for Finn Balor. He has emulated what Dominik Mysterio did to Rhea Ripley in the SummerSlam opener. The teases for these betrayals were there in bits and pieces.

There are a lot of fans who picked it up. As for Damian Priest, his world has shattered. Despite coming agonizingly close to beating Gunther, he fell short. Why so? Just because Finn. What could be the reason for the turn?

The theories are there in abundance. However, one name that immediately comes to mind is Liv Morgan and the way she might’ve swayed Balor. A few weeks ago, they were even caught coming out of the same car. The Women’s World Champion has single-handedly tanked The Judgment Day.
