This year’s WrestleMania may have received its fair share of criticism from the fans for a multitude of reasons. But none of that could ever take away from CM Punk what he was able to accomplish, main eventing night one of the show for the first time in his career. It is something he had dreamt of ever since he started budding to be a pro wrestler. And the moment of truth was always going to mess him up to the core.
That’s exactly what happened with the Chicagoan as depicted in the following clip from WWE: Unreal on Netflix. It dives into the backstage ambience just before Punk was about to head out for his match against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. As one could see below, an emotionally torn Punk had to be tamed by Triple H as the two shared a warm hug in the process.
The WWE CCO reminded his former on-screen rival about his gargantuan stature and directed him to do what he does best. Punk, in turn, thanked the 14-time world champion for bestowing the opportunity of a lifetime on him and said it wouldn’t have been possible without ‘The Game’. Even though the ‘Best in the World’ ended up losing the triple threat showdown against two of the best performers of this era, Punk was gracious in defeat.

He bowed down and kissed the ring mat before exiting. Afterwards, the former AEW star said he finally did it. Punk seemed content with himself for overcoming the outside noise that would often hold him down. ‘The Second City Saint’ was visibly shedding tears of joy as he realized his childhood dream of closing out a WrestleMania.
Seth Rollins’ SummerSlam ruse shook CM Punk to the core
Since his return to WWE, CM Punk has willingly or unwillingly forged a lifelong enemy in Seth Rollins. The latter has made it his priority not to let Punk reach the top of the food chain in the company on his watch. Earlier this month at SummerSlam, ‘The Straight Edge Superstar’ won his first world title in WWE since 2013 by ousting Gunther after a hard-hitting struggle.

A wave of euphoria engulfed the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as soon as Punk got the pinfall over the Austrian. Barely a few minutes must’ve passed before Rollins’ music hit. He came out on crutches with Paul Heyman holding his Money in the Bank briefcase. Everyone was convinced that the Iowa native was injured and had only shown up to remind the new champion to be wary of him.
However, moments after turning back, ‘The Visionary’ dropped both of his crutches to reveal that everything regarding his banged-up knee was merely a ruse. The Chicago Bears superfan would eventually go on to cash in his MITB contract and win the World Heavyweight title back from his arch-nemesis. Punk recently slammed Rollins on ESPN’s First Take for even lying to his daughter, Roux.
Could CM Punk overcome the odds at Clash in Paris?
This Saturday, CM Punk has a shot at redemption. He’s going to compete in a Fatal 4-Way bout comprising LA Knight, Jey Uso, and Seth Rollins defending his world title. The last few weeks on Raw have seen a number of brawls featuring all these exponents.

Punk is likely to face a stern resistance from Knight in his pursuit of reclaiming the gold. ‘The Second City Saint’ inadvertently screwed over ‘The Megastar’ on Raw when he was closing in on his first-ever world title win in WWE. Since then, Punk and Knight have only grown in enmity. Another man to factor into this situation is ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso. He’s been friends with Punk for a long time.
However, at Clash in Paris, it’ll be every man for himself. Rollins, on the other hand, would feel his back is against the wall, as he doesn’t need to be pinned or submitted to lose the title. The champion is always at a huge disadvantage in these multi-person matches.
