Colombia vs Brazil: Preview

Colombia national team celebrating

Colombia have registered just three wins out of the first ten games and find themselves in fifth spot just outside the top four at the moment. Colombia played out a 0-0 draw against Uruguay in their last game their fourth in the last five games. However Colombia came away with a return away from home against Uruguay for the first time since 2001. Reinaldo Rivera’s men were beaten 3-0 in their last meeting with Uruguay back in November 2020 so it was a hard fought point earned against them in the last game. Colombia are unbeaten in their last six qualifying games, their last lost coming at the hands of Ecuador when they were trashed 6-1 on the night.

Their opponents, Brazil are cruising in the CONMEBOL qualifying campaign with 9 wins from the first nine games played and are yet to taste defeat. However in the last game Tite’s men had to come from behind to win 3-1 against Venezuela, when Eric Ramirez gave his side a surprise lead in the 11th minute. It took Brazil 71 minutes to find an equaliser when Marquinhos headed home from close range from Raphinha’s cross who came on as a substitute to make his international debut.

Colombia vs Brazil: Prediction

Gabriel Barbosa(centre) celebrating his goal against Venezuela

Colombia and Brazil have had some exciting encounters in the recent years with the tie being settled with an odd goal scored by either of the two nations. We expect a tight contest between the two sides this time out at the Barranquilla. Neymar is back for Brazil and will surely create more problems for the Colombian back line as Tite’s men will surely look for their 10th win in as many games. Hence we predict a win for Brazil in this game.
