Ukraine saw Andriy Shevcenko stepping down from the managerial position of the national team after an impressive run at the Euros 2020 and before that. There were doubts that the great progress done by the former AC Milan player will be undone, but his successor Oleksandr Petrakov have started his time as Ukraine national team manager strongly after having three draws and a win since the start of September.

Ukraine were a slight underdog in their last game against Finland but came out victorious in a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk which also kept them 2 points clear from their next opponents. Ukraine face Bosnia-Herzegovina home and away in their last two fixtures of Group D and both the ties have alot of significance in terms of securing a playoff spot for either nation.
