Ansu Fati the young Spanish striker will now be donning the number 10 shirt in FC Barcelona and it’s now official. There were certain reports after Messi’s departure that FC Barcelona will be retiring the number 10 but it looks young fati gets to carry on the legendary legacy of the number 10 Shirt.

Ansu Fati has been representing FC Barcelona since he joined La Masia from youth Sevilla in 2012. The young Spanish striker is just 18 years old and he has started do wonders for both, FC Barcelona and Spanish National team. He is currently the youngest player in the league to have scored for FC Barcelona at the age of 16 years and 304 days.

Ansu Fati was having an exceptional performance last season for the Catalan club until he suffered a serious knee injury which ruled him out of the squad for the entire season. Finally after nine months in recovery Fati has returned to the training ground and is ready to play his first match this season.

Will Ansu Fati live up to the expectation of the Number 10 shirt at FC Barcelona?

Ansu Fati has not yet been included by Ronald Koemann in his last three matches in the league. We can hope that after the international break Fati will be back in the lineup, all set to get back in action.

After donning the No.17, No. 31 and No.22 shirts for the last few years, Ansu Fati is presented with the No. 10 jersey. The Number 10 at the back of the jersey brings great responsibility and burden on Fati’s shoulder. It will be exciting to see if Ansu Fati, the young Spanish striker lives up to the expectation and continue to carry on the legacy of the Number 10 Jersey.

“Ansu Fati has a new shirt number. After wearing the No 22 then No 17, the young Barca striker will proudly wear the number 10 shirt – a famous jersey previously worn by legends such as Leo Messi, Ronaldinho and Rivaldo,” Barcelona said in their statement.

“Just six days after his debut for the first team he became the youngest ever player to score in the league for FC Barcelona. “He is a record breaker who will now wear the magical No 10 shirt.”
