The defender would have fallen behind in the Manchester United squad this season had he stayed at the club, after the club signed Raphael Varane this summer, adding to their defensive resources.

The move to Aston Villa would serve as a great opportunity for the young 23-year old defender to gain more Premier league experience as he looks to build a case of staying at United for the years to come. He signed a new deal with the Red Devils, which would last till 2023- with the option of being extended a year further.
