ATK Mohun Bagan sign defensive-midfielder Deepak Tangri on a 2-year deal

ATK Mohun Bagan have continued their shopping spree ahead of the new ISL season with the signing of former academy graduate Deepak Tangri on a 2-year deal. The player joins the club on a 2-year deal from Chennaiyin FC.

Deepak Tangri had started his football career at the Mohun Bagan academy before making the move to Indian Arrows to play at the senior level. Deepak is a versatile player and can play at numerous positions in defence, centre-back, left-back and even central midfield.

Deepak made 17 appearance for his former club Chennaiyin in last season’s HERO Indian Super League and excelled playing as a defensive midfielder. ATKMB coach Antonio Lopez Habas was said to have liked his style of play and urged the club to sign the player this season.

Playing for the U-17 Mohun Bagan side during his initial years, he became an instant hero at the club after scoring in the local derby match for his age group against East Bengal. Deepak had scored the winning goal against the Red and Gold brigade.

The 22-year old defensive midfielder has also represented India at the U-20 level and is now all set to return to his home club in Kolkata. Deepak Tangri has made a total of 51 appearances at the senior level and will hope to add to his tally for ATK Mohun Bagan.

ATK Mohun Bagan have made a number of signings so far including the likes of Finnish midfielder Jonny Kauko, goalkeeper Amrinder Singh and now Deepak to boost their squad ahead of the new ISL season.
