Barcelona appoint Xavi as new head coach after triggering Al-Sadd release clause
FC Barcelona have finally been successful in their pursuit of bringing in Xavi from Al-Sadd as their head coach this season. Xavi was always their ideal candidate to lead the club, after the dismissal of Ronald Koeman, and the wish has been granted by the Qatari club in a wonderful gesture.
The move to bring in the former Barcelona player was not at all easy, as he was serving as the manager of Al-Sadd and clubs don’t want to let go of their managers while the season is already underway. However, after a lot of dialogue between the two clubs the Qatari club have finally budged from their stance and have let Xavi leave almost immediately to join the Catalan club.
Xavi had made a public plea to Al-Sadd earlier to let go of him
In a statement released by Al- Sadd on their social media pages, they let their decision known that they have eventually agreed on Xavi’s move.
Turki Al Ali, the CEO of Al- Sadd said, “The Al-Sadd administration has agreed on Xavi’s move to Barcelona after the payment of the release clause stipulated in the contract. We’ve agreed on cooperation with Barcelona in the future. Xavi is an important part of Al-Sadd’s history and we wish him success.”
The man in question, Xavi Hernandez had already urged the club to let him leave for Barcelona after seeing their intention in signing him this time around and Al-Sadd did not want to disappoint the man who has been responsible for their excellent results in the past couple of years.
Turki Al- Ali continued, “Xavi informed us a few days ago of his desire to go to Barcelona at this particular time, because of the critical stage his hometown club is going through, and we understand this and decided not to stand in his way. Xavi and his family will remain welcome in Doha, and our relationship will continue.“
