“Can’t speak about this situation” – Former footballer Hope Solo arrested for DWI and child abuse
Hope Solo
Former American women’s national team star goalie Hope Solo was arrested on charges of misdemeanour child abuse, resisting arrest and impaired driving. She was found passed out behind the wheel in North Carolina alongside her two-year-old twins inside, police said.
A police report stated the 40-year-old Solo was booked on Thursday in a shopping centre parking lot in Winston-Salem. However, she was later released from jail and has a court date of 28 June, the report added.
According to an arrest warrant, an onlooker noticed the former janitor passed out behind the steering wheel for more than an hour with the vehicle’s engine running. Following this, she was processed and subsequently released from the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center.

FYI, this is not the first time Solo has been in trouble with the law. Back in 2014, the Washington native Solo was arrested on domestic assault charges. This took place after police said she assaulted two of her relatives at a home near Seattle. But later the charges against Hop, who entered a not-guilty plea, were officially dropped in 2018.
“Story more sympathetic than the initial charges suggest”
Owing to the impending prosecution, no concrete information regarding the arrest has been released at this time. Reacting to this matter, a team member of the former football player, released a statement.
Rich Nichols, an attorney for Solo, said in a statement emailed to CNN: “On the advice of counsel, Hope can’t speak about this situation, but she wants everyone to know that her kids are her life, that she was released immediately and is now at home with her family, that the story is more sympathetic than the initial charges suggest, and that she looks forward to her opportunity to defend these charges.”
