Carlo Ancelotti ‘Trolls’ Pep Guardiola and Maurizio Sarri in an attempt to explain his footballing ideology

Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti has been an instant success in his second term as the head coach of La Liga giants Real Madrid. Ever since he took charge of the Los Blancos this summer, they have been unstoppable both in La Liga and in the UEFA Champions League and they are slowly regaining their position as the powerhouse of European football, which they had lost after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018.

The Italian manager gives Real Madrid fans hope and he is the rock upon which Florentino Perez is planning to build their next-gen Galacticos squad. With star players like Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba and Erling Haaland being already linked to La Casa Blanca, it now looks inevitable.

Amid these win-win circumstances, Carlo Ancelotti has given an interview to Italian Newspaper Corriere dello Sport in which he discussed the current state of football, the future of Real Madrid, his own tactical ideologies and much more. A particular part of the interview in which he was talking about his footballing philosophy, however, has raised controversy as many are of the opinion that the Gaffer trolled Man City manager Pep Guardiola and former Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri.

Carlo Ancelotti on how his Football Philosophy differs to other coaches

Carlo Ancelotti

Talking about how his methods differ from other top managers around the world, Carlo Ancelotti said, “A clever coach is one who adapts the game to the characteristics of his players. He would be an idiot if, with a forward like Vinicius, who has a motorcycle under his feet, he did not bet on the counterattack. Another example: if I have Cristiano, I look for a way to get the ball to him often, I don’t ask him to go back. The same with Ibra. There are two types of players: those who make a difference and those who must run. I don’t believe in ideologies like Guardiolismo, Sarrismo… I believe in the identity of the team.“

By Guardiolismo and Sarrismo, the Italian was referring to the playing styles of those two managers and it will probably be an overkill to consider it as ‘trolling’. Sadly the quotes have been misaligned by many fans on social media to make it look otherwise.

Real Madrid’s Future

Ancelotti teased the ‘big plans’ that are set to be announced in July

Carlo Ancelotti also talked about Real Madrid’s ‘future’ in the very same interview. He teased some ‘big plans’ that are set to be announced in July and said, “At Real, everything is the same and unchanging, the only thing that changes are the coaches. The same physiotherapists, the same warehousemen, the same journalists, the same vision — the same urgency for greatness despite the economic damage that the pandemic produced. In one year, at the end of December 2022, the new Bernabéu will be ready and Florentino has big plans for July. Florentino has very serious intentions. Haaland in addition to Mbappé? Let’s talk about it later.”
