Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger struck down by a LIGHTER against Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea recorded a comprehensive 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League in Sunday night. The Blues opened the scoring via a stunning goal by Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech just after the resuming of the second half. Callum Hudson-Odoi made a great run and set up Ziyech who curled in an absolute beauty from far out.

Things went from bad to worse for Tottenham Hotspur as they conceded yet again in quick succession. This time around it was Brazilian international Thiago Silva who headed in the second goal for the Blues after the free kick delivery from Mason Mount.

Although it was a great game of football, it was overshadowed by a unnecessary event from the Tottenham Hotspur supporters. Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger was hurt by a ‘lighter’ which was thrown from the away end. Last week Lucas Digne went down injured after being struck by a water bottle.

A police complaint regarding the Antonio Rudiger incident has been recorded.

“Two men have been arrested on suspicion of throwing objects from the stands during the Chelsea versus Tottenham Hotspur match at Stamford Bridge. They have been taken into custody,” a spokesperson told Sky Sports News.

“Enquiries, in conjunction with Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC, are ongoing to identify anyone else involved in throwing objects during the match.”

“I’m not worried, but you are right, I sent the message to our fans – support us, we love to have them close to the pitch, we love a brilliant atmosphere and that they are not behind fences or nets,” said Thomas Tuchel.

“If this is a new trend we need to act together to make sure that it stops as soon as possible, to protect the fantastic environment and unique atmosphere of England.”
