Manchester United’s need for a central midfielder is a top most priority in this January transfer window. The likes of Fred, McTominay and Matic have been inconsistent this season often failing to help the attack progress and have a goal scoring opportunity and it was widely evident in the 1-0 defeat against Wolves at Old Trafford earlier this week. Bruno Fernandes who started from the bench had an instant impact after coming on in the second half. 

The former Ajax midfielder Donny Van de Beek has managed to only limited minutes since his arrival and hence failing to replicate the form he had for Ajax over the years. Manchester United were unable to sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window however now the Red Devils are surely in need for one who would play alongside Bruno Fernandes and help at both ends of the pitch.

Will Ruben Neves be a good signing for Manchester United ?

Boubacar Kamara and Ruben Neves are potential January transfer targets for United with the latter running the show in his side’s recent 1-0 win at Old Trafford. The 24 year-old Portuguese midfielder still has two years left on his contract at Wolves, with the East midlands side trying everything to fend off and keep the midfielder. Wolves have put a £40m price tag if any club would like to acquire the services of the midfielder.

Reports also suggest that Arsenal are also interested in signing Neves. Should that be the case then the Portugal national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo will play an important role to bring his fellow countryman to Old Trafford as they both share the same agent which is Jorge Mendes. Ruben Neves also fits perfectly to the playing style and the 4-2-2-2 formation of the interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

Reports suggests there are number of players in the Manchester United squad who are unhappy with Ralf Rangnick’s system and their limited playing time. The likes Dean Henderson, Donny Van de Beek, Matic and Anthony Martial are all looking for new clubs in this January transfer window.
