EURO 2020: Poland Vs Slovakia Player Ratings as Slovakia record a 2-1 clincher against Poland
Poland Vs Slovakia Player Ratings
Slovakia locked horns with Poland today in the first match of Group E win EURO 2020, which is only their second European Championship appearance, and it is them who have emerged as the eventual winners against a Polish side who were the favourites to get better of them in the match. Milan Skriniar scored the all important winner for the Slovaks with the match ending 2-1 in favour of the Slovenskí sokoli. An own goal from Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny in the 18th minute put Slovakia ahead in the first half which was dominated equally by both the teams. Poland equalised just after half time break through Karol Linetty but Slovakia defender Milan Skriniar scored the final goal of the match soon after Gregorz Krychowiak was sent off Poland. The goal made sure of the Slovaks’ three points as they saw through some crucial Polish counters in the closing quarters of the match to secure all three points.
Here are the players ratings of the closely contested fixture.
Slovakia Player Ratings
Martin Dubravka – 6/10
Peter Pekarik – 7/10
Lubomir Satka – 6.5/10
Milan Skriniar – 8.5/10
Had a good day in defence, with a commanding display. Was instrumental in keeping the dangerous Robert Lewandowski silent throughout the match, making 10 clearances, winning 5 duels, 2 interceptions inside the box and 3 recoveries. Scored Slovakia’s winning goal with a beautiful drilled finish to the bottom corner from a set piece in the 69th minute.
Tomas Hubocan – 7/10
Juaraj Kucka – 7/10
Jakub Hromada – 6/10
Marek Hamsik – 7.5/10
Prolific in the midfield, with much of Slovakia’s attacks going through him. Created two goalscoring chances and assisted Skriniar’s winner.
Lukas Haraslin – 6/10
Ondrej Duda – 7.5/10
Robert Mak – 7/10
Created some sporadic but useful chances, was always a threat down the left flank. Did brilliantly to wriggle past two Poland defenders to take a shot which was ultimately turned in by Szczesny for Slovakia’s first goal.

Poland Player Rating
Wojciech Szczesny – 5/10
Was beaten too easily at the near post to concede the first goal, which had ricocheted of him into the goal, unlucky to be deemed as an own goal. Couldn’t have done anything for the second.
Bartosz Berezynski – 5/10
Kamil Glik – 5.5/10
Jan Bednarek – 6/10
Kamil Jozwiak – 5/10
Karol Linetty – 7/10
Had a first half worth forgetting. Scored Poland’s equaliser just after the break with a clinical finish of a Rybus minus, and looked far more livelier untill he was subbed off.
Grzegorz Krychowiak – 4/10
Was rather impact-less and lacking intensity for most of the game as the midfield was mostly overrun by the Slovaks. Could have avoided the second yellow as he was ultimately sent off in the 62nd minute.
Mateusz Klich – 6/10
Maciej Rybus – 6.5/10
One of the better players for the rather lacklustre Polish side. Made some darting runs down the left flank and notched up a couple of key passes. Beautiful wall play with Klich before ultimately delivering the ball on a plate for Linetty to equalise with a pin point minus.
Piotr Zielinski – 5/10
Robert Lewandowski – 5/10
Kept silent by the Slovakia defence for most of the game. Had an off day on the field as the balls were in short supply.
