The two heavyweights of Europe have previously met on 36 occasions, and the Spanish side just eke out their Italian opponents with 12 wins from those outings. Italy have won 11 times and the other 13 matches have all ended in stalemates. The last time these two sides met in the European Championships was in the EURO 2016, and Italy secured a 2-0 victory with goals from Pelle and Chiellini in the Round of 16 stages in France.

Spain have surprised most people by making it into the semi-finals of EURO 2020, especially after the La Roja’s failed to produce results in the build-up to this tournament and their first two group matches. After two draws against Sweden and Poland, concerns began to emerge as to who would score the goals for Luis Enrique’s side. However, Spain have responded to those concernsin dramatic fashion as they scored 11 goals in the last three matches, scoring 5 goals in consecutive matches against Slovakia and Croatia. They will face a sterner test in Italy though who are yet to drop points in this year’s competition.
Under Roberto Mancini, the Azzurris have looked to have been at their best for the entirety of the tournament. They have conceded just 2 goals so far, and defeated the likes of Switzerland and Belgium in coming to the semi-finals. They were one of the favorites since the tournament started and have lit up EURO 2020 with their style of play. The likes of Verratti, Jorginho and Locatelli have blossomed in Italy’s midfield, so has the veteran partnership of Bonucci and Chiellini at the heart of defence.
Who will win Spain vs Italy Match
It’s a tough match to call, as two of Europe’s heavyweight teams clash, and especially with the amount of pressure there would be when the two sides ultimately make their way on the pitch. The match would be played at a neutral venue, something both sides will have to get accustomed to.
However, we feel Italy have the edge over their rivals all over the pitch and an Italian win is predicted. Italy will hopefully progress to the EURO 2020 final with a 2-0 win.
