FC Barcelona set to sign this outstanding Premier League top scorer

FC Barcelona’s search for a forward might end on the last day of the Winter Transfer Window as the Spanish giants look to secure Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a loan deal from Arsenal. The Arsenal striker has been spotted in Barcelona ahead of a rumoured loan move to the Camp Nou.

The 2018-19 Premier League Top scorer has an agreement in place to join FC Barcelona on loan from Arsenal but the deal is expected to go through only if the Catalan club can move at least one player out or the forward takes a substantial salary cut. FC Barcelona are trying to find a taker for Ousmane Dembélé, who has declined to extend his contract beyond the summer, but the Frenchman has no interest in joining Arsenal.

Reports suggest that Aubameyang is willing to play for “practically nothing” to secure a move after falling out with Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta. The latest report comes from ESPN who reckon the two clubs are still “discussing how much of his £250k-per-week wages the Spanish giants can pay.”

FC Barcelona have apparently told the Gunners they “can only pay a small portion of the player’s salary and are awaiting a response from the north London club.” However, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano “the deal is expected to go through only if the Catalan club can move at least one player out.”

Arsenal’s disciplinary action on FC Barcelona target Aubameyang

Aubameyang

Aubameyang’s future has clearly been in doubt since he was stripped off of the Arsenal captaincy and made to train alone for what a club statement described as “his latest disciplinary breach”. Further, the 32-year old has been left out of the squad ahead of their warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

During his time at Arsenal, the Gabonese forward scored seven goals in 15 games across all competitions this season, and 92 in 163 overall appearances since moving from Borussia Dortmund in 2018. Aubameyang did have a good start with Arsenal, being the top scorer in the league for the 2018-19 season, but he failed to continue his form.
