Gianluigi Donnarumma transfer news: Barcelona and Juventus interested in the player
According to the media outlets and transfer journalists, the 22-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma is attracting interests from Barcelona and Juventus after AC Milan announced that the shot-stopper will leave the club on a free transfer. AC Milan announced the signing of Mike Maignan from the French Champions, LOSC Lille, to replace Donnarumma on Thursday. The Rossoneri’s official statement read:
AC Milan is delighted to announce the signing of French player Mike Maignan from LOSC Lille, who will be joining the Club starting from 1July 2021. The goalkeeper has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2026 and will wear the number 16 jersey.
Mino Raiola, one of the super agents in football, demanded a sum of €20 million as agent fee to sign the contract extension which made Rossoneri’s life difficult amidst the pandemic. As Donnarumma is a free agent, Mino Raiola is looking a club for his clients and the likes of Barcelona and Juventus are interested in the player. Juventus shot-stopper, Gianluigi Buffon announced his departure from Bianconeri. This has tempted the Old Lady to sign the shot-stopper.

In the 2020/21 season, for AC Milan, Gianluigi Donnarumma conceded only 38 goals in 38 games and remained fit to play all the games for the Serie A outfit. Also, he featured in eight Europa League fixtures and led his side to the quarterfinals of the second-tier European competition. With respect to Gianluigi Donnarumma’s transfer situation, Fabrizio Romano tweeted on his official handle:
Mino Raiola spoke with Barcelona in the last few hours about Gianluigi Donnarumma. He’s a free agent now - Marc ter Stegen is 100% staying as 1st goalkeeper, untouchable. Barça board will decide soon whether signing Donnarumma or not. Juventus are interested too.
On the other hand, Manchester United are also interested to secure the services of the shot-stopper but the club might think twice to make a deal with Mino Raiola. Also, the English Premier League outfit have already signed Tom Heaton on a free transfer who is set to handle the player-coach role at Old Trafford.
