‘He would only accept a winning project’ Di Marzio about Antonio Conte’s return to Premier League

Antonio Conte would be willing to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United manager if the Norwegian is sacked, it has been reported. Manchester United were stunned by Swiss side Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League when they grabbed a 95th minute winner in a 2-1 win with Jordan Siebatcheu capitalised on Jesse Lingard’s back pass to goalkeeper David De Gea.
Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 13th minute on his second Champions League debut for Manchester United but unfortunately was on the losing side. Solskjaer is under immense pressure after his side surrendered a one goal lead, and if Ole is to be sacked by the club former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is interested in taking over the job at Old Trafford.
The 52 year old already has the experience of winning the Premier League and also the FA Cup with Chelsea couple of years ago. Conte is currently unemployed after leaving Inter Milan in the summer and Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio believes United would present an interesting challenge for him – unlike Spurs or Arsenal.
He said: “I think he wants to win. He would only accept a winning project. So I don’t think he would consider Arsenal, because Arsenal are not immediately strong enough to win something.
“And that is why he said no to Tottenham”
“I think he would only consider Manchester United’s call, if it would arrive. But there has been no contact at all.”
“I know that some United fans would like to have Conte on their bench, and I think he would like it too. He would only come back to the Premier League for a winning project.”
Will Antonio Conte be a right-fit for Manchester United?

Many Manchester United fans will feel that they could have a better manager than Solskjaer, but the Norwegian has given rise to some great young talents such as Mason Greenwood, Scott McTominay and Brandon Williams. This may not be the case under Antonio Conte as he has his different style of playing and having a particular set of players in doing so, Antonio Conte will fix the short term problems at the club and the youth players will not have many chances under his management. However, Ole should be trusted and with time he will win trophies for Manchester United.
