England’s Premier League is one of the major football leagues around Europe and is probably considered the best of the lot, owing to the amount of talent and the football which is at show across the whole year in the country.
The Premier League season of 2020-21 came to an end a few months ago with Manchester City winning their 5th Premier League title. In what looked like a dull race for the title in England, as City took an unassailable lead to claim the title, the race for the Top-4 compensated for that. Another race which had the spectators hooked to the league was the race for the highest goal scorer at the end of the season.
Harry Kane- The Highest Goal Scorer in Premier league 2020/21
Tottenham Hotspur and England skipper Harry Kane, came out on top of the scoring charts in the recently concluded Premier League season. The race for the highest goal-scorer boiled down to the final match-day of the season when both Harry Kane and second placed Liverpool striker Mohammed Salah stood equal with 22 goals after 37-matchdays.
Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes stood at a distant third with 18 goals, but a dramatic finish was expected nevertheless between the Top-2 to claim the individual honours of the league. Harry Kane, scored a goal in Tottenham’s final game against Leicester which took his tally to a total of 23 goals in his 35 matches played.
On the other hand, Liverpool forward Mohammed Salah failed to find the back of the net even once in their final clash against Crystal Palace as the Reds bagged a 2-0 victory to secure a top-4 spot on the final day.
Harry Kane also won the Playmaker of the Season award after registering a league highest 14 assists to go with his 23 goals. He became only the third player to win both the Golden Boot and the playmaker of the year in the same season.
