The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have continued to retain their core players for the 2021 NFL season but they were not happy with the strength of the defensive group, so they have signed experienced cornerback Richard Sherman on a one-year deal.

Sherman could be the final piece of the Buccaneers’ equation as they prepare to preserve their Super Bowl championship this season. He may make his Tampa Bay debut in Week 4.

According to rumors, the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and Carolina Panthers all wanted to sign him. However, it didn’t have much impact as the Buccaneers were willing to pay Sherman more.

According to several sources, Sherman would make more than $2.25 million including bonuses in his initial year with the Buccaneers. Sherman will also get $500,000 in incentives under his most recent deal. His contract does not appear to have an extension option.

After signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Richard Sherman revealed that he did a brainstorming session before making the decision and is excited to join the team. He also revealed that this was the best offer he received and terms it as the best opportunity for himself to showcase to the world his abilities.

“I finally had enough conversations and came to a decision that I’m going to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Woo! All the craziness and then all the hate and all the tweets, and then everybody’s mad because I didn’t go to their team. I’m sorry.”

“I went with the best offer I had, the best opportunity to go out there and put some great tape on, to lead another group. I feel comfortable and confident in my abilities to go out there and execute and help that team win. This was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up, and I weighed all the options with my wife and family, and this is what we came up with, so I’m ready to strap them back up and go out there and show that these old legs still got some juice,” said Richard Sherman.

Sherman’s decision to join the Buccaneers makes it completely reasonable since he will be able to compete alongside Tom Brady rather than against him in the Super Bowl.
