“.. how the club has treated him is absolutely not right..” – Paul Robinson comes in support of Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard failed to secure his much-desired exit from Manchester United as the club refused to strengthen their top-four rival and held onto the English international. Lingard had been expected to take his departure from the club last month as he’s out of contract in the summer and is yet to make a start for the Red Devils in the Premier League this term.

Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick informed about whether Jesse Lingard is available for the upcoming FA Cup game.

He said, “Jesse asked if we could give him a couple of days off to clear his mind,” said Rangnick on Thursday. “He will be back in training on Monday and part of the whole squad.”

However, the 29-year old posted a Tweet about the situation and said that he is ready to give 100 for Manchester United.

His tweet said, “The club advised me to have time off due to personal reasons. But my headspace is clear and I’ll always be professional when called upon and give 100 per cent.”

This is the second time in recent months, followed by Anthony Martial that a Manchester United player has had to take to social media to contradict the manager Ralf Rangnick’s statement.

Jesse Lingard’s unfair treatment

Talking about Jesse Lingard’s situation in Manchester United, Paul Robinson on Sky Sports expressed his disappointment on how the player is being treated.

He said, “We have heard the same from Martial this season. There’s something fundamentally wrong, there’s a breakdown in communication somewhere. Other players feel that they have to come out, not to undermine the manager but give their side of the story.

“I think, given where Jesse is at the moment, I think how the club has treated him isn’t right.”

Newcastle, Tottenham both made approaches for Lingard but it was West Ham that were pushing the most for the 29-year old on Monday. However, the player’s wish to re-kindle his amazing form at West Ham will have to wait another 6 months.
