“The matter is now resolved.” -Ralf Ragnick on the future of Anthony Martial at Manchester United

Ralf Rangnick says Anthony Martial will be considered for Manchester United’s matchday squad to face Brentford on Wednesday despite the confusion surrounding whether he refused to play for the club.

Ahead of the Brentford, in a press conference, the Manchester United manager was asked about his comments on the future of Anthony Martial.

He said, “I’ve been here for six weeks. All the things that need to be said, I said after the press conference.

“I had a conversation with him on Sunday, a personal conversation about what happened and how I saw the whole. situation. The matter is now resolved.

“He didn’t train yesterday and before yesterday, he will probably train today and after training g I will then take the decision if he is nominated or not.”

Anthony Martial’s refusal to play

The Frenchman did not travel with the Manchester United team to face Aston Villa on Saturday evening despite being fit and available, with Ralf Rangnick forced to name just eight substitutes on the bench as a result.

After the game, the German coach was asked about Anthony Martial’s absence. The manager revealed that the striker had declined to be included in the squad.

“Yes, he didn’t want to be in the squad,” Rangnick said. “He would have been in the squad normally but he didn’t want to and that was the reason why he didn’t travel with us yesterday.”

The French Striker was quick to refute the comments made by his manager.

Just before midnight on Saturday, Martial posted on his Instagram Story: “I will never refuse to play a match for Man United.

“I’ve been here for 7 years and I never disrespected and never will disrespect the club and the Fans.“
