James Rodriguez’s downward trend in his football career seems to continue as the Colombian midfielder grabbed headlines yet again for all the wrong reasons. Rodriguez was sent off for his continuous protests against the referee, who had given just shown him a yellow card.
James’ new club Al Rayyan were in action against Al Arabi in the 8th match of the Qatar Stars League, and chaos transpired towards the latter stages of the match, eventually leading to a red card for James Rodriguez.

The referee awarded a yellow card to James Rodriguez, rather surprisingly after it appeared that he was the one fouled right on the edge of the penalty area by the opposition player. James stayed on the ground after being hurt with the challenge, while the other players engaged with each other in a heated debate.
As soon as James got up to take the resultant free-kick, the referee brought out the first booking for him, sparking an angry reaction from the Colombian. Rodriguez wanted to have a go at the referee, while his teammates wanted to calm him down in the dying minutes of the match as Al Rayyan trailed 2-1.
It did not have much impact on the referee though, who brought out the card yet again (all inside a minute) and dismissed James from the pitch. The 2014 World Cup’s Golden Boot winner then sarcastically clapped at the referee, before taking off his shirt and marching off the field.
James has seen a dramatic change of fortunes in his footballing career and has lost two of his first three matches with the Qatari club. He could also be charged with disciplinary action which might see him stay on the sidelines for longer than usual.
