The 2020-21 season has been brutal for both players and managers who have had to play play plenty of matches with minimal rest. All Premier League teams have had acute injury problems and a certain Jurgen Klopp would know a thing about injuries to his players at Liverpool.

The Liverpool boss has had to deal with injuries to all of his defenders and Liverpool have often struggled to field recognized defenders for their matches. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will play three matches in five days after their clash against Liverpool on May 2 was postponed due to United supporters protesting inside and outside of Old Trafford against the Glazer ownership.

“It’s not Manchester United’s fault if we do not qualify for the Champions League,” said Jurgen Klopp

Jürgen Klopp has described Manchester United’s fixture schedule as “a crime” and accused the Premier League of reneging on a promise that teams would not suffer as a consequence of the Old Trafford protests against the Glazer family.

When asked if Solskjaer’s decision to make a host of changes was frustrating, Klopp told a news conference: “It was the lineup that I expected because I knew he had to make changes.

“I said it 500 times that with all the things that happened, and the protests at Manchester, to play Sunday-Tuesday-Thursday is a crime,” Klopp said on Wednesday ahead of their Premier League fixture.

“It is. But it is not the fault of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the players. My question to myself was: ‘Would I have done the same?’ Yes. You have to. You have to.”

“The explanation from the Premier League was that no other team should suffer because of the things (protests) that happened in Manchester,” Jurgen Klopp said.

“Let me say it like this – that didn’t work out pretty well. A little bit West Ham (in fifth place), a little bit Liverpool (suffered). But if we don’t qualify for the Champions League it is not the fault of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team selection or the Premier League, it is our fault.”
