FA Community Shield- Leicester City vs Manchester City Player Ratings as the Foxes lift the first trophy of the season
Leicester City took home the first available title for the new 2021/22 season, as they defeated Manchester City in the FA Community Shield match. Kelechi Iheanacho scored an 89th-minute penalty to seal the match for the Foxes as Brendan Rodgers’ fruitful time at the club helped them win back-to-back titles at the club.

Zack Steffen: 7/10- Had a decent match and denied Jamie Vardy quite a few times to keep Manchester City in the game.
Joao Cancelo: 7/10 Targeted by Barnes but he is no slouch defensively and also added value going forward.
Ruben Dias: 7/10 Great block on Vardy in the second half as he sharpens up for the new campaign.
Nathan Ake: 6/10– Decent throughout the match, but gave away the crucial penalty at the end for Manchester City.
Benjamin Mendy: 6.5/10 Had a shaky start to the game, as Leicester attacked his flank but was more influential as the match wore on.
Fernandinho: 7/10
Ilkay Gundogan:7/10– Was arguably City’s best player of the match and pulled all of their attacking moves from midfield, had a crucial free-kick denied by Schmeichel.
Cole Palmer: 7/10 –Almost got himself an assist, and was one of the brighter spots for Pep Guardiola’s side going forward.
Riyad Mahrez:6/10– Made a nuisance of himself on the right-wing throughout the game and often drew fouls from the Foxes’ backline.
Ferran Torres: 6/10– Was largely quiet playing in the central role, and did not give the Leicester City defenders much of a problem throughout the match.
Samuel Edozie: 6.5/10– Missed a huge chance in the game, from Gundogan’s pass and was often guilty of losing possession much to the displeasure of his manager, Pep Guardiola.

Kasper Schmeichel – 7/10 –Made a stunning stop to deny Gundogan from the free-kick and was solid whenever called upon to do the job for his side.
Ricardo Pereira – 7.5/10 –The right-back was probably the best player on the pitch throughout the 90 minutes and expertly dealt with the attacking moves from Manchester City’s left flank.
Caglar Soyuncu – 7/10 – Led the backline perfectly well in the absence of the injured centre backs for Leicester City
Daniel Amartey – 7/10 – Playing at an unusual position, the midfielder maintained his shape throughout the game and did not look out of place playing at centre-back.
Ryan Bertrand -6.5/10 – Earned himself a booking, but looks to have adapted well to his new club colours.
Wilfred Ndidi – 7.5/10 – Played a great match, and performed his task to the utmost breaking up play before City could unleash themselves in the final third.
Youri Tielemans -7/10 – Another promising display from the Belgian midfielder who looks to have a special liking for the Wembley stadium.
Ayoze Perez – 6.5/10 – Did not look comfortable playing at the left-wing position and failed with his crosses and passes into the box on more than one occasion.
James Maddison -7/10 – A strong figure in the attacking third for the Foxes, he was involved in almost every move Brendan Rodgers’ side made and looks to be at his best before the start of the new Premier League season.
Harvey Barnes -7/10 – Displayed his greatest asset- his burst of pace and troubled Mendy often throughout the match. He was direct in his approach and always looked for the pass onto the foot of Vardy.
Jamie Vardy – 6.5/10 – Had a chance to open the scoring at the end of the first half, which was expertly kept out by Steffen.
