Liverpool and Arsenal’s remarkable Carabao Cup clash might face cancellation due to major Covid outbreak
Liverpool’s fixture against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup is rumored to get canceled as the Anfield-based team is reportedly hit with a major Covid wave while the other players are either out on international duty or injured.
Liverpool is scheduled to travel to Arsenal to play their first leg semi-finals of the Carabao Cup on the 7th of January, but the situation for the Reds does not look well as they have reported the EFL about their inability to play the match.
The EFL board has not yet given any say on the matter as the match is officially still supposed to go on and Pepijn Lijnders will once again be on the field with the team in place of the German manager as Jurgen Klopp has also been hit with Covid 19 and is quarantined at home.
Pepijn Lijnders is once again set to take reigns of Liverpool if the Reds take on Arsenal in the Carabao cup
Pepijn Lijnders in his recent interview with Sky Sports said, “Jurgen is Jurgen, he gives everybody positive vibes and he has full support and gives all this energy from home.”
“Jurgen is a top manager so at the moment a team is prepared and well drilled, his staff is prepared and well drilled.”
“At the moment these top managers can step away, hopefully the team can still perform. He gives responsibility, a lot of freedom as always and gives full support.”
Liverpool comes into this clash after a hard-fought battle with Chelsea in the Premier League which ended in a 2-2 draw. Players like Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, and Nabi Keita have gone on international duty for Africa Cup while Allison, Firmino, and Matip are reported with Covid 19. Alcantara and Minamino are out with injuries followed by Van Dijk, Fabinho, and Curtis Jones who are also fatigued after their recent return from Covid.
