Manchester United star Paul Pogba’s contract is expiring in the summer of 2022 and there are still mixed feelings regarding his contract extension. Some journalists are reporting that the 28 year old is willing to wait until the summer to make his final decision as he looks to be in no hurry and wants to concentrate on football.

Earlier in the month, Ralf Rangnick had hinted that Paul Pogba would be motivated to impress the current boss as well other clubs if he were to leave the Red Devils in the summer. This was quite an honest interview by the German manager and it was something that was taken well by the fans.

Ralf Rangnick said,” It is not a question if a player has an expiring contract, the question is how much does he still want to be a part of this group, how much does he still feel emotionally and physically on board. As long as this is the case, why shouldn’t Paul Pogba now, fully fit again, and he wants to show the fans of Manchester United, the board and the whole world what kind of player he can be?”

The German manager added,” Even if it’s only to show enough for a new contract elsewhere, he will be highly motivated to do that and why should I then not play him? But there is a difference in how players deal with their current situation. If they handle that in a professional way, I will play players although they have a contract expiring in the summer.”

Rangnick also said,” I see Pogba’s best position as one of the central midfield position, as either an 8 or a 10. But the way we are playing, I’d rather see him in the 8 position. It’s up to him now his contract is expiring in the summer and if, in the end, he would like to stay or go somewhere else he has to show up.”

The Manchester United boss lastly said,” It is not only in the interest of us as a club, but it is in his personal interest that he plays and performs at the highest possible level. Let’s wait and see. i will be excited myself to see how Paul is doing and, like all the other players, for me his is now a new player. He can show me, the team, the fans and everyone in England how good he is and at what level he can play.”
