Marco Asensio makes angry gesture to Real Madrid fans after scoring scintillating goal against Alaves

After a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Paris Saint Germain in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16, the Los Blancos have bounced back with a 3-0 victory against Alaves in La Liga. The victory put them 7 points ahead in the title race in Spain and has given Carlo Ancelotti some breathing space.

Despite the flattering scoreline, Real Madrid had to struggle for most parts of the first half, as they failed to link up well between themselves to show off the free-flowing football they are known to play.

Marco Asensio told the fans to stop discouraging the players in an angry celebration

The Real Madrid fans, who are never the ones to hide their displeasure brought out the boos and whistles at the Santiago Bernabeu after the first half ended 0-0. However, things became better in the second half and Marco Asensio finally broke the deadlock to calm the jitters of the Bernabeu faithful.

Marco Asensio scored with a trademark finish after cutting back in on his left foot from the right flank. The Spaniard found the top corner of the Alaves goal with a wonder strike from about 25 yards to give Los Blancos the lead on the 63rd minute.

While the goal was a thing of beauty from Asensio’s left foot, his celebration was even more extravagant as he gestured to the Madrid fans inside the stadium to stop booing and whistling the players. Instead, he urged the fans to be more appreciative of the players’ efforts even when they were struggling on the pitch.

The Real Madrid fans seemed to take his words very kindly and even offered the winger a standing ovation when he was substituted for the final 10 minutes of the match.
