Marcus Rashford faces lengthy spell away from football due to a surgery
Marcus Rashford
Its been a hard couple of days for England and Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford, after he missed a crucial penalty in England’s EURO 2020 final shootouts. However, now reports suggest that the United No.10 will face some time off football after deciding on a shoulder surgery during the season break.
Rashford could miss up to two months for Manchester this season as he underwent scans on his injured left shoulder to decide on the necessary action required for its treatment. He had been nursing the injury to his left shoulder since November but decided to continue playing.
Marcus Rashford will be out of action till October
He has decided to have an operation at the earliest possibility to avoid it becoming debilitating over the next year.
Although a date for the surgery has not been fixed, the course of recovery is projected at 12 weeks which would mean Rashford misses a number of games in the 2021-22 season.
Rashford used to take pain killing medicines over the last 8 months to reduce the effect of the injury and to make himself available for this summer’s EUROs. However, now that he has decided on taking the surgery he could miss United’s first 8 Premier League matches.
He could also not feature for United’s first 3 Champions League matches which starts in September.
The United star has faced a lot of flak on social media, including racial abuse on his Instagram and Twitter accounts for his crucial penalty miss against Italy in the penalty shootouts of the EURO 2020 finals.
