Martin Odegaard confirms Real Madrid return next season, pens emotional post for Arsenal fans
Martin Odegaard has all confirmed the end of his loan spell at Arsenal and will once again be seen in Real Madrid colours next season. Odegaard joined Arsenal on a six month loan deal in the winter transfer window after failing to secure a starting lineup spot at Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane.
However, with the Frenchman deciding to step down from his spot as head coach of the Los Blancos, Martin Odegaard will once again look to restart his career at the Madrid based club. He will be under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti this season, the man who signed him at the club when he was just 15 years of age.
Martin Odegaard had a successful 6-month spell at Arsenal
Although Martin Odegaard only managed two goals and two assists in 20 games with Arsenal, but he was the key creator in Arsenal’s midfield in the second half of the season, where Mikel Arteta’s side enjoyed a better string of results.
A lot of speculation surrounded the 22-year old’s future, whether he would continue at Arsenal or would he return to Real Madrid. The midfielder himself has silenced all of the speculation after posting an emotional letter for the Gunners fans.
“Arsenal, thank you so much for these six months,” Odegaard wrote on his official Instagram account.
“My time with the Arsenal family will always hold a special place in my heart. I wanna thank everyone in and around the club for the way you made me feel like a part of the family since the first day. Thank you, gunners family. Always in my heart.”
Odegaard directed his love for the Gunners fans even though he did not have the privilege of playing at a full capacity Emirates Stadium during his stay. He said: “Even without you guys at the stadium for the majority of the season, I felt you with me at all times.“
He will now have a chance of redeeming himself at Real Madrid for a second chance and the youngster will hope for a much better show than his first stint. In Carlo Ancelotti he will have a manager who believes in his potential and it would definitely help the youngster bloom.
