‘Mauricio Pochettino would be the perfect fit’- Teddy Sheringham believes PSG boss could fill the gap at Manchester United
Manchester United are in a continuous hunt in finding a successor for interim manager Ralf Rangnick as he looks to take an advisory role at the club at the end of the this season. Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham believes that the former Tottenham Hotspur boss will be the ‘perfect fit’ for Manchester United going forward.
The Paris Saint Germain head coach has been heavily linked to a move to Old Trafford since the start of the season as the Red Devils have struggled to find consistency this season which also saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sacked and Rangnick currently at the helm. Sheringham feels that Pochettino’s methods prove to be a natural successor to Sir Alex Ferguson’s legacy. Since the departure of Sir Alex, United have continued to struggle to win trophies as they did in the Ferguson era. However Teddy Sheringham believes that Pochettino could be the one to bring the glory days back to the Theatre of Dreams.
“I think, if you look along those lines, I would say the perfect fit would be Pochettino, without a doubt. I think when he was at Tottenham he wanted the ball, he wanted to play with the ball and hurt the opposition, and I think that the Manchester United crowd would love his philosophy in the way that he takes the game to the opposition.” Teddy Sheringham said.
He further added, “Obviously, he didn’t win anything at Tottenham, but if you’ve got bigger and better players. who knows what he could achieve. He would be the man for me, he would be the number one choice.”
Is Mauricio Pochettino the missing piece in the puzzle for Manchester United ?
Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure at Tottenham Hotspur may have been one without silverwares but the Argentine international played some great football and got Spurs to multiple finals during his eight-year spell at the North London club.Pochettino managed to get Spurs to the 2019 UEFA Champions League final after a comeback win against Ajax eventually losing 2-0 to Liverpool. Though he has had a slow start to his managerial career at PSG a move could to Manchester United prove a win-win situation for both parties.
